It is called "vNotes" (vaginal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery) the innovative surgical technique, imported from Belgium, which allows to perform laparoscopic operations without incisions on the abdomen This procedure is a variant of the techniques that use natural accesses to operate inside the abdominal cavity in order to avoid visible scars and to reduce surgical invasiveness for the patient. In particular, vNotes allows you to adopt laparoscopic instruments (a camera and operating tools) through an incision in the bottom of the vagina. The use of vaginal access for gynecological interventions is a historical surgical approach which however has significant limits due to the difficulty of vision and the inability to operate safely on deep structures due to the narrowness of the surgical field. The vNotes, allowing a precise vision with the use of the endoscopic camera together with advanced surgical instruments, allows you to go beyond these limits, allowing an ultra-minimally invasive surgery. In addition to the clear aesthetic advantage linked to the absence of abdominal scars, the vNotes technique is characterized by the significant reduction in post-surgical pain and the need for analgesics. This allows in most cases to be discharged on the afternoon of the operation. The V-NOTES approach can be used both for the treatment of adnexal pathology (fallopian tubes and ovaries) and uterine pathology (fibromatosis, metrorrhagia, precancerous) where removal of the uterus (hysterectomy) is indicated.
